CD Baby’s parent company, AVL Digital Group, has taken a major step in expanding beyond artist-driven services and into B2B services with the acquisition of AudioMicro and its AdRev and DashGo divisions. Bringing AudioMicro into the fold means CD Baby will now be able to offer AdRev’s Content ID technology for YouTube videos and DashGo’s API for better monetization of assets.
Even though digital is on the upswing, physical is still performing relatively well on a global basis — if not in the U.S. market, where CD sales were down 18.5 percent last year.
